On January 15, 2026, the Intermediate Technical Review (RV2) of the MESEO project – Multi-Mission Efficient and Secure High Capacity End-to-End Earth Observation – took place, marking an important milestone in assessing the progress of the project’s activities. The meeting was hosted by GMV, the project coordinator, and was held in a hybrid format, with participants attending both in person in Tres Cantos, Madrid, and remotely.

All MESEO project partners attended the meeting, along with the European Commission Project Officer, Lukas Lanneau.

During the day, the MESEO consortium provided a comprehensive overview of the project and the progress achieved across its various work areas. The sessions covered updates on coordination and management activities, the evolution of the system architecture and engineering aspects, as well as advancements related to onboard functions, ground systems, and the planned demonstration activities. A dedicated session focused on communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities. Ample time was also allocated to constructive discussion through question-and-answer sessions.

The review represented a key opportunity to evaluate the alignment of ongoing activities with the project’s objectives, analyse the main challenges encountered, and outline the next steps. Particular attention was given to the integration of the different components of the MESEO system and to the preparation of pilot demonstrations, which are key elements for validating the solutions developed.

The meeting concluded with an open final discussion and the sharing of initial overall feedback, marking the end of the project’s second year. The review confirmed the value of collaboration among partners and the central role of such moments as essential tools for monitoring and alignment. MESEO now enters 2026, its third and final year of activity, continuing its path toward achieving its objectives and strengthening its contribution to future end-to-end Earth observation capabilities.
