Listen to our insightfull conversations about space science and the MESEO project
Science All Around is a podcast for curious young scientific explorers eager to discover the wonders that surround us. Each episode takes listeners on a journey through new topics, everything from what we can see from space to the mysteries of biology, new technology, mathematics, art, medicine, and much more.
Join this interactive aventure filled with fascinating discoveries, fun facts and surprising stories that make science come alive!
Episode 1: Observing the Earth – Satellites
In the first episode of Science All Around, we explore the fascinating world of satellites! Discover what they are, how they work and their role in observing our planet from space. Our guest expert, Javi from SATLANTIS, breaks down the key components of a satellite – its frame, brain, special equipment, power source, and protective shield – and explains how they work together. Clara, our youngest reporter, makes sure everything is clear for our future scientists.
Once you’ve listened to the podcast, it’s your turn. On the European Space Agency website, you can build your own model satellite, Aeolus, and play a game to assemble different satellites. Join us for an educational adventure into space!
Episode 2: Observing the Earth – What Do We See?
In the second episode of Science All Around, we uncover what satellites actually observe and why it matters! Building on our first episode about satellites, we learn how they gather crucial data to help in our everyday lives. Javi from SATLANTIS returns to share examples of how satellite observations help forecast the weather, track endangered species, and even monitor climate change. Clara, our youngest reporter, makes sure everything is clear for our future scientists.
Once you’ve listened to the podcast, it’s your turn. On the NASA website, you can find out about what Hubble, e of their largest space telescopes, is looking at and what it looked at on your birthday. They also tell us more about GPS (and pizzas!) Tune in for another exciting journey into the world of space science!
Episode 3: Observing the Earth – The MESEO Project
In the third episode of Science All Around, we dive into the MESEO project, which aims to manage satellite data for millions of users worldwide. This European collaboration should help scientists, farmers, and even disaster responders access important satellite data quickly, easily and safely! Jessica from RESOLVO explains what MESEO does. Clara, our youngest reporter, makes sure everything is clear for our future scientists.
You can learn more about MESEO on the project website and on the European Space Agency website you can find out how to become a Climate Detective with space data.
